Michele McAvoy is a children's book publisher and multi-award-winning author from New Jersey. As a child, she read Judy Blume and drew Garfield comics. For her 10th birthday, she asked for a pink typewriter. Michele always loved the smell of new books. Now all grown-up (typewriters near obsolete) she loves bringing joy to children through her own stories and those she publishes. Michele founded The Little Press in 2020 as a traditional publisher of picture books through young adult. The Little Press books have received numerous industry accolades, including rave reviews from Kirkus, Publisher's Weekly, School Library Journal, and Foreword. They have also been named to state books lists like the Kansas Notable Book List (Cabby Potts) and 2024 Books All Georgians and Young Georgians Should Read (In the Ring). Michele's personally published titles include, Willa the Werewolf, Buckingham Gets A New Shell, Cookie & Milk, The Gorilla Picked Me!, and My Superhero Grandpa.
