Writing From the Inside Out: Graphic Novel Workshop

Collaborative Graphic Novel Workshop

September 2023 to April 2024

Using Zoom, author and illustrator Rivkah LaFille will guide collaborative groups in the process of planning, researching, and writing graphic novels for kids and teens. Rivkah is a published author-illustrator who will help you understand how to approach writing graphic novel manuscripts from the writer's perspective.

Why should you participate?

The graphic novel industry is a burgeoning area of children's literature. With new frontiers like graphic novels come new ways of telling a story—this workshop is intended to give writers the structure and guidance for how to tell their stories in the graphic novel medium. With our collaborative model, you'll have opportunities to get feedback on your work from other participants and deepen your own craft knowledge while helping other members of the group through the drafting process.

What else do you need to know?

Workshop meetings will take place via Zoom. These 90-minute sessions will take place on the second and fourth Saturdays from September 2023 to April 2024 from 12:00 – 1:30 pm Central time. You can see a more detailed schedule below.

This is an interactive workshop, so all participants are expected to attend meetings live—active participation is key to getting the most out of this experience. That said, we realize life happens and can provide a recording when extenuating circumstances prevent in-person participation.

Still unsure?
