You have written a draft picture book, a chapter of a middle grade or YA novel. Congratulations!
Now what
Welcome to the Brazos Valley Writers Workshop where writers pair up to read, discuss, and do
the work of revising in a supportive and creative environment.
We meet from 10:00 -11:15 am prior to our in-person meeting. Bring your picture book draft or
2-3 pages of a middle grade/YA novel. Let’s get that manuscript submission ready.
And remember:
“Revision involves rethinking not what a piece of writing is, but what it might become. It requires
time to consider roads not traveled in the first draft…with time and tools, support from mentors
and friends, revision can actually be fun.” Kate Messner, Real Revision, 2023
What does it take to make a strong critique group community? The fun begins with showing up and answering six simple questions. The first five set the tone for respectful and open dialogue, but the sixth question raises the bar for what each member can give and gain through actionable feedback. Learn all about how to create, nurture and grow your critique group watching our March meeting replay.
Critique groups are a fantastic way to take your work to the next level, no matter where you're starting. Improve your craft under the gentle guidance of our critique group coordinator, Kathryn LeRoy. Please bring a few printed copies of your work in progress to share. If you do not have anything to work on, you are still free to join in! When: 10am-11:15am the last Wednesday of the month before our monthly meetings. Where: The Arts Center, College Station
