Craft - Creativity - Connections

Get ready for a weekend full of interesting sessions. presentations, intensive workshops, and panels. Three different tracks offer insights and knowledge for all kidlit creators - from illustrators to writers to translators.

We start off with a keynote for all attendees early on Saturday morning. After that, we launch into the three tracks and everyone joins the sessions they chose at registration.

Mix and match sessions from three tracks:

Track 1 focusses on topics for illustrators, author-illustrators, and picture book writers.

Track 2 is aimed at middle grade and young adult authors, and

Track 3 will take a closer look at the industry itself and the newest trends such as Graphic Novels and Self-publishing.

Even more fun activities await:

On Friday, you may join a guided tour of Cologne’s famous cathedral, visit the picture book museum, or scrawl-crawl along the river Rhine with your fellow artists.

Make new connections at Saturday’s Luncheon Roulette, find new friends at the afternoon Socials, or book a faculty feedback session.

There’re competitions, too!

Both writers and illustrators will get their shot at winning a free 1-year SCBWI membership at the Sliding Door Pitch and the Sketch This! Competition. Of course, there is also the traditional Portfolio Showcase. it will be judged by a subset of the faculty and the winner will get a consultation with an Art Director.

BONUS:

All attendees will receive a complimentary one-year digital subscription to Indie Author Magazine.
