What is the Mad Hatter Challenge?

In May 2024, our illustrators' critique group launched the Mad Hatter Challenge, spearheaded by SCBWI Israel Illustrator Coordinator Shirley Waisman:

• Draw the Mad Hatter scene from Alice in Wonderland. Let your imagination run wild! Then, get feedback from other group members, and add the finished illustration to your portfolio.

We also included a special author challenge:

• Create a rhyming lullaby based on the lullaby in the Mad Hatter scene from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ... OR...
• The Mad Hatter asks Alice "How is a raven like a writing desk?" He doesn't have an answer. But YOU might! Pick two random things (cars and chocolate; guitars and snails; go wild with it!) and tell us in under 100 words why they're alike.
