The SCBWI Utah/Southern Idaho region welcomes children’s book writers, illustrators, and translators from Boise, Idaho, to St. George, Utah—and everywhere in between. Our regional community offers inspiration, education, and community. Join us to learn and connect with fellow creators who are passionate about books for young readers. Fall Workshop & Critique
Join us October 24th for a day of learning and opportunity! Register SOON for one of our morning workshops taught by four special guests. In the afternoon, you’ll join a breakout session by a published children’s author or illustrator of your choice AND a 1 1/2-hour First Look critique by one of our Special Guests. That's right, every attendee will get their first pages or artwork looked at by a special guest! Located in Millcreek, Utah.
Critique-a-Palooza
Get professional feedback on your manuscript or illustration portfolio from an agent, editor, or art director who works in children's publishing—for as low as $60 for SCBWI members! We've invited five agents, six editors, and one art director. This year, you can choose from live critique sessions via Zoom, or a written critique, or both—while spaces last. This event always sells out fast. Registration opens May 15th at 8:00 a.m.
Mentorship with KayLynn Flanders and Shawna J.C. Tenney
The SCBWI Utah/Southern Idaho Mentorship Program was created to help writers polish their manuscripts with the help of established professionals in their field. Over a period of six months, mentees will receive critique and career advice from their mentors to help them succeed in the world of children’s publishing.
