SCBWI PAL Request Form

PAL stands for “Published and Listed." Books are considered PAL when they are published by traditional publishing houses that do not charge money to authors or illustrators. Only PAL books are eligible for the Crystal Kite and Golden Kite Awards and may be sold at SCBWI events. All published children’s books (both PAL and non-PAL) are eligible for the Book Launch Grant, Online Book Launch Parties, and can be sold in the SCBWI Online Bookstore. Only books for children published by a PAL publisher qualify for PAL status. Click here for a current list of PAL publishers. If your publisher is on the list do not submit a PAL inquiry; it is not necessary. Instead, proceed with the following steps to change your membership to PAL: Click “Member Profile” in the upper right corner of the SCBWI website. Then select "Share Your Work" under your profile picture, and click “Add A Book.” You’ll be prompted to fill in the information about your book. Select your publisher from the dropdown publishers list. When you do this, if your book was produced by a PAL Publisher, your membership will change to PAL if it isn’t already PAL. Click the green “Publish” button at the bottom of the page.

SCBWI Arizona PAL Author Showcase and Q&A

Beginning in November 2020, SCBWI AZ will host PAL Author Showcases to celebrate recent PAL book releases. This event will spotlight authors and/or illustrators, who will introduce themselves and their books, and provide attendees the opportunity to get answers to their general publishing questions. These free events will be moderated by PAL coordinators Dianne White and Kim Tomsic.
