About Our Region

The Brazos Valley region is a vibrant place for writers and illustrators to grow in their careers. Our region is small in numbers but big in terms of success. SCBWI-BV has many published writers and a few have received national awards in recognition of their work. We are colleagues, cheerleaders and friends on an incredible journey together to share our stories with the world’s children and young adults. If you live in the following counties you will automatically be assigned to Brazos Valley region when you sign up for an SCBWI profile: Anderson, Angelina, Bell, Bosque, Brazos, Burleson, Cherokee, Falls, Freestone, Gregg, Grimes, Harrison, Hill, Houston, Jasper, Leon, limestone, Madison, Marion, McLennan , Miliam, Nacogdoches, Newton, Panola, Polk, Robertson, Rusk, Sabine, Saint Augustine, Shelby, Sherman, Smith, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Washington.

Ever wonder who puts together regional SCBWI programming? While SCBWI headquarters puts on the New York City Winter Conferece and Virtual Summer Conference, all our local programming is put together by a team of volunteers. Our team is all ears if you have ideas for guest speakers or new programming!
