SCBWI Indiana

Our Indiana chapter comprises a dynamic group of members who are traditionally and independently published and pre published writers, illustrators, and translators. SCBWI Indiana is for anyone who lives in the state of Indiana and writes, illustrates, and/or translates stories for children, ranging from board books, picture books, chapter books, middle grade, graphic novels, to novels for young adults. We offer in-person and virtual events in our chapter throughout the year and we also have several active critique groups for both authors and illustrators within the chapter.

Join us February 14th before all your Valentine's Day festivities for an interactive, conversational webinar led by Stuti Telividara with Park, Fine & Brower Literary Management, as we delve into the secrets of age-appropriate suspense--we all know about Edward Gorey and Goosebumps, but did you ever think of Where the Wild Things Are when you thought of "horror?"

Plotting doesn’t always come naturally—especially if your brain freezes at the word “outline.” In this workshop, writers will learn how to coax their brains into generating plot ideas organically, using tricks and techniques that tap into how stories are naturally structured.

This spring, we’re inviting just eight advanced middle grade and young adult writers to join us for a special weekend retreat in beautiful Brown County State Park. Think blooming trails, bright mornings, gentle breezes, and uninterrupted time to sink deeply into your writing.
