Oregon SCBWI Illustrator Exhibit: We'll keep you posted!

Submissions are in and currently under review. In case you haven't heard: We’re curating a special exhibit at the Collins Gallery inside the Multnomah County Central Library that will showcase Oregon SCBWI Illustrators! This exhibit traces the evolution of Kid Lit book illustrations and the artists who create them. The show will feature a mix of published and pre-published illustrators from our region, highlighting the incredible range of work created by SCBWI Oregon members. SCBWI will host an opening event on October 4th. 2025.

Spring-Summer Home Page Artist: Abigail Marble

Each season we feature a different Illustrator's work on our homepage. This spring we feature the work of Abigail Marble, an SCBWI member for over 25 years. Abigail has illustrated picture books and book covers for, amongst others, Candlewick Press and Penguin Random House. She's currently developing picture book manuscripts and lives in Portland with her wife, son, and pup Mochi in Portland, Oregon.

SCBWI: the Essential Guide

Now available to SCBWI members - Go to Member Home and click the Resources Tab. "The Essential Guide to Publishing for Children" offers invaluable advice and resources for authors, illustrators, and translators of children's books. Inside you will find new and essential articles such as maximizing social media, creating book trailers, best practices in independent publishing, and grassroots promotion. Our up-to-the-minute Market Survey includes a comprehensive house-by-house listing of imprints, editors, art directors, and key personnel. Other directories include The International Market Survey, The Reviewers Directory, The Agents Directory, and unique features called Edited By and Agented By, in which editors and agents have been personally surveyed to provide a history of their recent acquisitions.
