SCBWI Oregon’s Great Critique is an event that happens twice a year. Each session is an awesome opportunity for writers and illustrators to be critiqued by a professional and their peers. ⭐Registration opens May 11th⭐

Covering the state of Oregon, our region is led by Regional Advisor Laura Byrd, with support from Assistant Regional Advisor Lisa Gerlits, Illustrator Coordinator Robin Chilstrom and an Advisory Committee. As volunteers, our goal is to help our members learn their craft and grow as creators and kidlit enthusiasts.

Each season we feature a different Illustrator's work on our homepage. This spring the artist is Matthew Rivera. Matthew graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and then moved to Los Angeles. He worked for many years as an art director for agencies, large corporations, and toy companies. He lives in Portland now, making art and writing stories for kids.
