SCBWI Oregon: Level Up! with Matt Phipps
Back by popular demand! Many people wished they could have attended every breakout session at our May conference, so we’re bringing back speakers for an encore.⭐ This workshop will take a holistic and highly collaborative approach to the process of finding inspiration for your novel, going from dreaming to drafting, crafting characters and story arcs that surprise you, and finding the right mentor texts to help guide you along the way. Registration closes December 7th.
Featured Illustrator: October
October's Featured Illustrator is Avery Jepsen Minyard. She grew up in Corvallis, Oregon, then moved to Portland for college and never left! Avery was lucky enough to be born to two artist parents, so there was no shortage of creative encouragement in her house growing up, but somewhere along the way her perfectionism got in the way of art-making and it took many years for her to return to it. Featured Tile Artist - Jordan Kim
Each season we showcase the work of one of our Oregon Illustrators. This Fall we're featuring Jordan Kim. Jordan's work often focuses on the natural world as well as moments of connection within our human community. She creates worlds from cut paper using tiny scraps of color and texture to build layers into vibrant illustrations filled with movement, story, and wonder. Her goal is to spark connection: to remind us to honor our connection to each other and the natural world.
