Welcome to the New SCBWI UK Regions

SCBWI proudly launches a new era for our regions in the United Kingdom and Great Britain.

Dear SCBWI Members,

We’re delighted to welcome you to a new era for SCBWI in the United Kingdom and Great Britain.

As of today, 23 July 2025, SCBWI headquarters has officially transitioned from the British Isles region to six distinct regions, as outlined in our message of 10 July. These new regions are:

Members in Northern Ireland will now be part of the Ireland region, which is already active and thriving.

This new structure brings exciting opportunities for connection, growth, and creativity. You will continue to enjoy the full benefits of SCBWI membership—including access to expert-led programming, professional development, and networking with publishing professionals both in the UK and internationally.

The much-loved Undiscovered Voices competition will carry on as scheduled, with submissions for the 2026 edition open through 8 September. Words and Pictures will also continue, now as a multi-region publication. Other cherished events and initiatives you’ve come to rely on will also continue, and SCBWI is expanding its suite of awards and grants to support writers, illustrators, and translators at every stage of their journey. You can explore all current opportunities on the Awards and Grants page.

Don’t forget to check out global regional virtual events, which are open to all members—there truly is something for everyone.

Your membership is what makes SCBWI such a vibrant, welcoming home for children’s book creators around the world. It also offers a chance to step into a leadership role and support your fellow creatives. We are now accepting applications for regional team positions, including:
