September meeting: Create Date

Sep 30, 2026

arts center

The real secret to creating is to actually get your "butt in chair" time! Join us online or in person for a working session with the benefit of camaraderie and feedback.

Get ready to get something done with us!

Sometimes you need a deadline, scheduled creating time and/or accountability partners!

Pencil in our CREATE DATE and join us for a mix of interactive activities and quiet time to write or illustrate along with fellow artists!

This event is made possible by a grant from SCBWI and the Authors Coalition of America.

About our Guest Speakers/Moderators

Romy Natalia Goldberg began attending Brazos Valley SCBWI meetings in 2014 with no experience writing for children. She became a volunteer in 2015 and the Regional Advisor in 2020. In the ensuing time she revised her way to her dream agent and sold her debut picture book, THE GOOD NIGHT SHIFT which will be published in 2027.

Lydia Scott joined SCBWI in 2018 and became Assistant Regional Advisor in 2022. During her time as ARA she has developed several manuscripts, made connections in the industry and no longer has so much imposter syndrome!
