The SCBWI Nebraska region serves members of the vast state of Nebraska. Our region offers events for children’s book writers, illustrators, and translators. We strive to help our members grow in craft, artistic skills, and understanding of the publishing landscape while promoting a positive writing community. SCBWI members from any worldwide region are always welcome.

2026 Indi-500

We’re kicking off 2026 with our sixth annual Indi-500 (word) Challenge! Once again, we have TWO contests: one for writers and one for illustrators. This is an SCBWI Nebraska members-only race to the finish. Based on selected themes and prompts, contestants create a 500-word story or spot illustration in just 48 hours starting January 30.

Join us at Vino Mas in Omaha on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Bring your smiling face and a drive to get to know your fellow creatives. Food provided; drinks available for purchase.
